Hi All, Interesting points of view. Related to consignment, Did someone face the need to create a purchase agreement where the price of the PO will be a % of the sales price? Thanks all in advance! Alex
@jeffpeterson - We also do consignment accounts similar to what others have described, but we set up each consignment location as a separate facility, vs. a warehouse. This was important for us as we need different product costs at the various locations to account for different freight charges. We use DOs to move product from our supply facility to the consignment warehouse.
Hi @jeffpeterson - Speaking to a few of my solutions architects, WH/Locations by Customer, create a Customer order when you get the actual order that auto invoices, and Distribution orders to manage inventory and movement was the consensus. They did mention that you may want to look at certain automation that may not be available with the standard configuration, just to keep the manual checks at a minimum and streamline the Read more...process. Hi Jeff, Agreed with Doyle: - warehouse by customer* - DO between your main warehouse and the customers - when customer consumes you create a CO type all automated (consumes stock and invoice immediately/automatically) *The caveat if you have a lot of customers, you can also do one generic warehouse and one location by customer: - warehouse by customer plus: you can plan with reorder point, shipping address is clearly defined - location by customer Read more...plus: less item/warehouse records but no replenishment automation and no dedicated address (you can still manage the address in CRS235 and change when create the DO) Quite easy set up actually in both scenarios. We have customers that we send product to with a consignment agreement. We send them product which is held in our inventory but is in their possession. When they use the product, we bill them for it. Is that what you are asking about?
We set up each consignment account as a warehouse in M3. To replenish the items, we use a DO from our warehouse to the consignment warehouse. When we are ready to invoice for the items, we create a CO and relieve the inventory from the Read more...consignment warehouse.
There may be other ways to do it in M3, but that's what we do.
Let me know if you want to discuss further. Show less...
