Allocating Partial Units to CO's and DO's

Categorized as:

We are using auto allocation and are having an issue with partial units (less than 1 EA) auto allocating to CO's and DO's. We still need the partials to allocate to MO's, but would like to exclude from allocating to CO's and DO's.

Has anyone else experienced this same issue and have any good solutions to share?

Hello, you should test this out to see if this works for you. In MMS002/F you can define 'Issue Multiples' and set it to 1 and for CO types in OIS010/H there is a parameter 'Round order qty' set it to option 3 so it picks the issue multiple from MMS002.

The outcome is when you enter a CO line it will round up to the nearest multiple so 0.5 will round up to 1 - for DO's however it will only show you a warning but won't stop you from entering a partial quantity

Hi Sajini, Thanks for the reply! The issue is not with partial quantities on the order entry side, but on the allocation. The order goes in for full quantities, but when the allocation job runs it looks at all inventory to allocate to the order. If there are multiple lots, the system will allocate in FIFO order ignoring the fact that the lot it is allocating is a partial quantity. We would like to find a way for the system to ignore those partial quantities when performing the allocation on  Read more...CO's and DO's and only allocate the full quantity lots. Show less...
Thanks for clarifying Dan.

Another possibility then is to use an Allocation control selection table - basically, it is a way to tell the system to exclude or include balance IDs using specific control fields - for example, if all your partials were moved to a specific location or stock zone, you can tell M3 not to consider stock in those stock zones when allocating stock (set up is MMS123) but this may require some internal process changes. Otherwise, it could be a development to  Read more...manage this so that these balance IDs are not allocable. Show less...
